With enthusiasm and a sincere desire to inspire, RCBB Gruppe visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Building Services in Iași this week at the invitation of the Association of Students and Graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Building Services (ASAFCI). The event aimed to offer students a captivating perspective on the profession of civil engineering, focusing on the personal and professional journeys of the RCBB team present, as well as on the challenges and rewards of such a career.
The presentation was delivered by:
- Dipl. Ing. Radu Balan, co-founder and managing partner of RCBB Gruppe
- Ing. Bogdan Chiperi, project manager within the RCBB team in Romania
- Future Engineer Irina Simirea, a fourth-year student currently interning at RCBB
Open dialogue and student curiosity
We were delighted to see that the event was far from a monologue – interaction with the young audience was one of the evening’s highlights. Students, their eyes filled with curiosity, asked a variety of questions, from the differences between working in Romania and Germany to details about the speakers’ professional paths and the steps needed to become a successful engineer.
“How many of you dream of becoming engineers?” was the icebreaker that led to interesting discussions. Many attendees were fascinated to learn that a career in construction offers not only professional satisfaction but also opportunities for personal growth, provided it is pursued with passion and dedication.

How do you build your future in construction?
Dipl. Ing. Radu Balan shared openly about the beginnings of his career, emphasizing the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. “Working during your student years helps you quickly understand what teamwork means and boosts your confidence”, he said, encouraging students to seize every learning opportunity.
The presentation also highlighted the support RCBB offers to young people through internships, mentoring, and access to real projects. “Your first encounter with a construction site teaches you more than any textbook – it shows you how theoretical concepts connect to daily work.”
A common vision: Collaboration between the private sector and universities
The event also advocated for a strong partnership between academia and the private sector. This collaboration creates a solid bridge for shaping the next generation of engineers. Individual, institutional, and business success is built on values such as integrity, respect, and collaboration – principles that must be nurtured starting in college.
In this context, RCBB shared practical examples from its experience:
- Practical Integration of Students: RCBB encourages young people to get involved in on-site and office activities during their studies, offering valuable insights into real construction challenges.
- The Importance of a Mentor: Students working with RCBB benefit from direct guidance from professionals, strengthening the link between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
A message for the future
“Together for success” was the idea RCBB used to encourage students to view their profession not just as a means of livelihood but as a way to contribute to the community and build a better world.

More than a presentation: A conversation between generations
The meeting in Iași was more than just a presentation. It was a conversation between generations – an opportunity for students to discover their motivation and for RCBB to reaffirm its commitment to education and developing future professionals.
