RCBB Gruppe is entering a new strategic stage in its international development with the expansion into Germany’s large-scale infrastructure sector. Following successful projects in civil and medical construction, we are now establishing our presence in a segment with significant growth potential: transport infrastructure. By the end of the year, we will launch operations on two major projects: the construction of a tunnel for the U5 metro line in Munich and the execution of a highway overpass in the city of Backnang.
Infrastructure – a strategic direction for RCBB’s future
This expansion comes at an extremely favorable time. The global tunnel and bridge market is in a phase of accelerated growth, estimated at USD 520.1 billion in 2024 and projected to reach USD 888.3 billion by 2031. Germany, one of the most robust European economies, is aligning with this trend through major public infrastructure investments.
A new horizon in Germany: Underground and above-ground infrastructure
RCBB’s project in Munich involves building a tunnel to extend the U5 metro line between Laim and the Pasing railway hub, including three intermediate stations. This project is part of a major effort for urban modernization and sustainable mobility. In Backnang, RCBB is contributing to the construction of a regionally significant overpass, which will enhance road connectivity and logistics flow in a growing area.
These projects demonstrate the technical and managerial capabilities of the RCBB team and mark the beginning of a new development phase.
An economic context favorable to infrastructure investment
In March 2025, Germany adopted a major constitutional reform of its national fiscal framework, introducing a EUR 500 billion infrastructure fund—equivalent to 11.6% of the country’s estimated 2024 GDP. In parallel, the Federal Ministry of Transport announced an investment plan worth EUR 166 billion by 2029, including:
